I rarely write reviews on products, but these foot masks have been such a good find, with some caveats, that I felt compelled to give my two cents.
First, if you are at all like me and 100% grossed out in any way by dried, flaking, dead skin, these masks will be an exercise in patience for you. I’ve spent 4 days watching my feet peel and wanting to vomit every time I need to pull some flaking skin off.
Second, these masks really work. I felt like the cheese grater situation at nail salons during pedicures was really damaging my skin, so I’ve been looking for an alternative. My heels were in terrible shape and had deep cracks in them. If your heels are cracked and dry, or you have minor callouses on your toes, these masks will take that skin off really well. However, I want to leave a couple helpful tips for usage.
The instructions say to soak your feet 48 hours after using the masks. Do that - it does really speed up how fast your skin starts to peel. Mine started peeling less than 48 hours later, but the skin on my feet felt tight and tingly within 24 hours.
One review said to moisturize and I took that to heart. I put shea butter on my feet every night before bed and slept with socks on so I wouldn’t shed dry skin in my bed (I can’t handle that AT ALL). I also put Shea butter on my feet right after the shower. However, in addition to moisturizing, you need to EXFOLIATE. Seriously - grab a loofah, or some exfoliating gel/scrub/whatever, and exfoliate your feet in the morning or right before bed under warm water once you start to peel. Get as much of that dead skin off as you can in the water because if you don’t, you’re going to walk around looking like you’ve sunburned the hell out of your feet and the dry skin will be everywhere because it flakes off in sheets. Exfoliating plus moisturizing helps mitigate the massive amounts of skin you’ll shed. Literally, your entire foot will peel, even in between your toes, so scrub your feet as the skin peels.
One other thing with these - they come up pretty high on your ankles, and that skin on my body is just fine. The next time I use these, I will probably roll them down and tape them closer to the tops of my feet (another area that realistically doesn’t need a peel). Keep that in mind when you use these - the skin on the tops of my feet and around my ankles seemed to be way more sensitive, so I will try to alter these masks to avoid contact with those areas next time.
Overall, I’m happy with these, other than the icky dead skin factor. I will probably use the 2nd pair within a month to really get my heels back in good condition. I subtracted stars because they are NOT moisturizing, and they’re not technically supposed to be, but I will definitely purchase these again.
I use these foot masks a couple times a year, usually once in early winter and once in mid-late spring. Before my first mask my feet were so calluses and dry. Now they are always consistently callus free and I rarely even put lotion on them.
Definitely follow the directions as far as soaking and moisturizing during the mask to get the best results. My husband has used the masks twice. The first time he didn’t soak or moisturize and he didn’t get the full benefits. The second time he did and couldn’t believe the difference. Love these and will definitely be buying again for flip flop weather!
I love this product. I use it every couple of months and my skin comes back feeling super soft!
This was one of the strangest things I've done to my feet, but overall it made a significant improvement in the softness and I will do it again. The initial part of soaking with the booties was easy and painless, and it did take a couple of days for any peeling to begin. I would avoid pulling on the peeling skin unless it is basically about to fall off. I did this (couldn't help myself) and actually hurt my heel by pulling on a peeling piece that wasn't totally ready to come off. I ended up having to use liquid bandage on that spot. The big results are like a week plus after you first use the booties. Once the flaking and peeling is finally over, you'll be able to notice a softer foot all around. It doesn't totally erase the calluses if you have them, but it does help a LOT and I imagine if I use the product every 6 weeks or so it will eventually make that kind of total transformation.
The product works really well for its intended purpose. You slip into these solution filled plastic booties after cleaning your feet and wait for 60-90 minutes before washing all the solution off. A couple days after using the foot peel mask, the outer layers of dead skin on the feet start to lift and naturally shed. Don't worry, although it is a little scary to see large patches of skin fall off, the process does not hurt one bit. I recommend wearing socks if you can to minimize the risk of shedding everywhere. You can easily shake off the dead skin inside by flipping your socks inside out. The shedding cycle spanned about a week for me. To accelerate the process, you can wash your feet everyday or soak them in warm water. When the shedding process has been completed, you are left with feet that look and feel super smooth. This foot peel mask has made such a big difference, it is hard to believe. Even feet that have layers and layers of dead and cracked skin will see a drastic improvement. As long as you remember to keep moisturizing your feet everyday as maintenance, you can continue to enjoy the results for a long time. The foot cream I recommend and have been using in conjunction with this is the O'Keeffe's Healthy Feet Foot Cream that comes in the jar. Flexitol works well too. I also suggest using a pumice stone or foot file to keep future dead skin at bay and avoid walking around barefoot. One thing to keep in mind is if you are diabetic, you should consult your doctor before using this product. Overall, I recommend this product to anyone who wants to get super soft feet, but struggles to find a way to do so.
This is Amazing! Stuck in the house for the last few months my girlfriend told me to get this. The skin started peeling about 4 days after I used it. Even though I had hard cracked heels the skin sloughed off gently but everyday more and more skin came off. I noticed even a corn came off between one of my toes which was very painful when wearing shoes after a few hours. I haven't used the second one yet as my feet look great for now. It is a fabulous product. I followed directions on the box not leaving it on any longer than recommended and got great results.
I normally get pedicures monthly during the summer, but Covid-19 has put an end to that for the near future! I tried this almost a week ago. I left the booties on for 90 minutes. I had just a little bit of stinging where some of the solution got on my ankles. The stinging was gone upon rinsing as directed. I started to notice peeling on my toes first, then bottom of my feet. After 48 hours, I began soaking for 20 minutes each day. This really loosened everything up. After each soaking, I have scrubbed the bottom of my feet with a pumice stone. I still have some peeling going on, but I never peeled in big sheets like some people did. I am thinking that I will need to do this again in another month as my heels still need a little work as they were pretty hard/calloused to start.
